Technology
Today's dental technologies offer patients the comfort and convenience of diagnostic imaging, electronic cavity detection and in-office whitening.
Our doctors utilize these technologies in caring for our patients:
Digital Radiography. Using less radiation than traditional film, we are now able to take xrays of your teeth and view them right away on a computer screen. Having an electronic image offers us the ability to zoom and enlarge areas of concern, as well as share information with you about your care.
Intraoral Cameras. A small wand-like camera allows us to take close-up pictures of your teeth to view fillings and tooth surfaces in detail. These images are stored in our computer system, and can be enlarged to assist our doctors in diagnosis and presentation.
DIAGNOdent® Electronic Cavity Detection. Using a special process that combines flourescent light and acoustic signals to register tooth density, our doctors utilize the DIAGNOdent® system to assist them with the detection of very small cavities so they can treat and stop the progress of decay as early as possible.
Power Teeth Whitening. Tooth discoloration that results from smoking, beverages and medication or other factors can often be safely removed and lightened to make teeth appear whiter. Using a special light and reactive gel, we can achieve dramatic results in our office in one hour.
Diode Laser. When it is necessary to make changes to gum tissue to remove infection, adapt to restoration or improve esthetics, our doctors can sometimes use micro-laser technology which allows them to work more quickly and in smaller areas than using traditional hand instrumentation. This approach often minimizes the overall impact to the soft tissue, resulting in faster healing time.
VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening. The VELscope® is a handheld oral examination system for the detection of abnormal soft tissue that can be an early warning sign of oral cancer. Using a revolutionary safe blue light technology that is completely pain-free, we are able to view different fluorescent responses that help differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue and reveal conditions that should be investigated further.
